INTRODUCING
AUDREY AND BRIAN
THE FOUNDERS OF
THE ATLANTA CREATORS CONFERENCE
British born Audrey Beharie-McGee has been involved in the music, entertainment and associated industry for over 35 years in the capacity as a singer, songwriter, producer, label owner and vocal and performing arts coach, and has worked for some prestigious and well known music industry orientated contact so has a vast experience in the world of music, beauty and entertainment. She is also the artist representation for husband, Brian, and has been involved in a plethora of productions for B.R.E Productions Int. Inc including "The Gifted", "Good Girls", "American Soul". "The Walking Dead", "Blockers", "Ozark", "Godzilla: King Of The Monsters", "Holidate", "Genius Aretha", "Legacies", "Black Lightening", "Goosebumps2: Haunted Halloween", to name just a few. Audrey was trained at the prestigious finishing school - "The London Academy of Modeling" in London, England by the renowned modeling coach, etiquette, writer and body language expert, Judi James, who has trained some of the biggest names in the industry. In 1983, Audrey, with her ex-husband Julian Francois, signed a contract as a singer/songwriter at PWL Music owned by Sir Peter Waterman (responsible for hits by Rick Ashley, Banamarama, Kylie Minogue, Hazel Dean, Dead or Alive, to name just a few) and, in 1985 they signed another major recording contract as a singer/songwriter/producer with Polydor Records, UK. However, Audrey was disillusioned by the treatment of the A&R team that took over from the original team that signed them what were intent on taking them into a completely different musical direction. Audrey disagreed and not wishing to comprise themselves and the integrity as performer, in an unprecedented move, requested from their management to leave Polydor. Always tenacious and with a fearless spirit, Audrey had been fortunately to have had the opportunity, whilst actually being signed as "an artist" at Polydor, to have also "worked" as a Promotions Coordinator MCA Records in London so her already existing knowledge of the industry was developed. Audrey's position at MCA involved working with the stellar major artist signed to the label creating promotional tours, campaigns, liaising with key contacts at radio across the UK, and being a perfect Ambassador for MCA and the roster of artists including Kim Wilde, Shalamar, Stephanie Mills, Belinda Carlisle, Eugene Wilde, New Edition, The Jets, Ready For The World, R.E.M, The Damned, Nik Kershaw, Bobby Womack, and many more prolific recording artist. Helped open the Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando. Full-time storyboarding on Spielberg's seaQuest 2032. First animation was Tinker Bell for Disney. I have some great anecdotes for each experience, but too long to detail here. I push myself. I always want to do better than before. Producing animation of Tinkerbell for Disney was a stretch since it was my first professional animation. If you had the opportunity to meet the man who helped launch the careers of comedic giants like Martin Lawrence, the late Robin Harris, Chris Tucker, Robert Townsend,
|
|
Before there was Def Jam, Comedy Central or Comicview, there was
The Comedy Act Theatre (C.A.T) the bedrock and mecca of today's African American comedy genre. The legendary maverick entrepreneur Michael E. Williams, "The Godfather of Comedy" opened the doors of the C.A.T in 1985, and immediately realized his childhood vision, quickly developing a regular audience of 250 to 400 patrons per night. After experiencing the gifting of the iconic Robin Harris, Williams hired him as the MC for the Los Angeles club; it proved to be a game-changer. (Harris rose to national recognition through his "BeBe's Kids" routines. Harris remained MC until his untimely death in 1990.) In its 12 years of operation, the four Comedy Act Theatre locations introduced to some and presented to others a phenomenal list of world-class comedic talent. As the concept skyrocket in success, the second club opened in Oakland, CA. Then, Williams expanded his original vision. He opened another Comedy Act Theater in Atlanta. It was a success; taking the fledgling career of Jamie Foxx to “must see” status and introducing the South to up & comer, Chris Tucker. Michael would finally open the last of three clubs in Chicago, IL. As news of the clubs success spread, it emerged unparalleled, providing an opportunity for the audience to hear their voice expressed through the performers onstage. Among its regular audience members were: Spike Lee, Magic Johnson, Denzel Washington, Lawrence Fishburne, Russell Simmons, Mike Tyson, and Ticha Campbell-Martin. Newcomers to comedy would cut their performance teeth and perfected their new materials at one or more of the clubs. Established performers were able to energized their careers, as many evolved in this fertile environment including Sinbad, Mike Epps, Martin Lawrence, D.L. Hughley, Robert Townsend, Joe Torry. Also on the roster where Bernie Mac, Red Foxx, Whoopi Goldberg, Jamie Foxx, Mark Curry, Ajai, Robert Townsend, Lamont Johnson, Damon Wayans and Louis Dix to name just a few who have taken to the stage of the illustrious Comedy Act Theatre. All these comedians owe their success to Michael who helped them make transitions from the comedy scene to the big screens. Nearly every nationally-recognized black comedian over age 40 has a performance connection with at least one of his three comedy clubs. His comedy clubs earned recognition as the launching pad for bigger careers. Unfortunately, Williams was forced to close the last of his four clubs in 1997 after being diagnosed with stage IV non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a rare form of lymphatic cancer (1993) with a life-ending prognosis. Upon overcoming cancer, Michael chose to provide care of this them critically ill father and shortly thereafter to his mother, honoring his parents who had faithfully stood by his side during his illness until their deaths in 2002 and 2006 respective. And The Story Goes On..... The Comedy Act Planet, born from, The Comedy Act Theatre now joins comedians across the globe through the influence and connection of one man... Michael E. Williams, rightly dubbed “The God Father of Comedy” who has expanded his vision to encompass the world. Contribution of Michael Williams |

BIG QUEHey Sugas! My name is Shacario Bradley and I am comedienne Big Que.
I was born the oldest of three in San,Diego CA and raised here in Atlanta, Ga, by my grandmother which is where "Sister Beverly" came from. Comedy has always been my passion. I have been blessed to share the stage with greats from Melba Moore to Angie Stone doing what I love from stage plays to stand-up. I met Audrey and Brian at Cafe 290 competing in a showcase called, "Who's Got the Vibe", where they are judges and I won my competing week. I am so blessed and humble to be able to perform at the Atlanta Creators Conference, especially at a time when comedy was almost not an option for me, but what God has for me, it IS for me!
