INTRODUCING
AUDREY AND BRIAN

THE FOUNDERS OF
THE ATLANTA CREATORS CONFERENCE

Picture

British born Audrey Beharie-McGee has been involved in the
music, entertainment and associated industry for over 35 years in the capacity as a singer, songwriter, producer, label owner and vocal and performing arts coach, and has worked for some prestigious and well known music industry orientated contact so has a vast experience in the world of music, beauty and entertainment.

She is also the artist representation for husband, Brian, and has been involved in a plethora of productions for B.R.E Productions Int. Inc including
"The Gifted", "Good Girls", "American Soul". "The Walking Dead", "Blockers", "Ozark", "Godzilla: King Of The Monsters", "Holidate", "Genius Aretha", "Legacies", "Black Lightening", "Goosebumps2: Haunted Halloween", to name just a few.

Audrey was trained at the prestigious finishing school - "The London Academy of Modeling"  in London, England by the renowned modeling coach, etiquette, writer and body language expert, Judi James, who has trained some of the biggest names in the industry.

In 1983, Audrey, with her ex-husband Julian Francois,  signed a contract as a singer/songwriter at PWL Music owned by Sir Peter Waterman (responsible for hits by Rick Ashley, Banamarama, Kylie Minogue, Hazel Dean, Dead or Alive, to name just a few) and, in 1985 they signed another major recording contract as a singer/songwriter/producer with Polydor Records, UK.

However, Audrey was disillusioned by the treatment of the A&R team that took over from the original team that signed them what were intent on taking them into a completely different musical direction.  Audrey disagreed and not wishing to comprise themselves and the integrity as performer, in an unprecedented move, requested from their management to leave Polydor.

Always tenacious and with a fearless spirit, Audrey had been fortunately to have had the opportunity, whilst actually being signed as "an artist" at Polydor, to have also "worked" as a Promotions Coordinator MCA Records in London so her already existing knowledge of the industry was developed.  Audrey's position at MCA involved working with the stellar  major artist signed to the label creating promotional tours, campaigns,  liaising with key contacts at radio across the UK, and being a perfect Ambassador for MCA and the roster of artists including
Kim Wilde, Shalamar, Stephanie Mills, Belinda Carlisle, Eugene Wilde, New Edition, The Jets, Ready For The World, R.E.M, The Damned, Nik Kershaw, Bobby Womack,  and many more prolific recording artist.

THE ART OF McGEE

Picture

Brian McGee - a native New Yorker - has a stellar resume and reputation within the world of television, film and entertainment.
From  the age of 2, Brian expressed an unusual passion and talent for drawing, probably due to the exposure to his Father's raw talent having,  spent hours watching him draw portraits and doodles.

Although,  in his youth, Brian participated in many extra curricular art programs,  formal training did not begin until he was accepted into New York's High  school of Art & Design. It was there where he focused into the path  of Illustration.

Brian continued his education with a 2-year stint at the School of Visual Arts. During this time he acquired his  love for Baroque art and photography.

Brian started his  professional career as a toy Designer for the now defunct Happiness  Express Toy company. For 3 years he fine tuned his craft and developed  his work ethic.

And, in 1988, she had the honor to work for Sir Paul McCartney, the late Linda McCartney and The McCartney family at their private offices in London, UK.

This would allowed Audrey to be able to “marry” and see the workings of all facets and mechanics of both sides of the industry – as an artist signed to a label and as the record label itself label – and forge out an extension of her experience, knowledge and wisdom within the business.

With the skills, experience and insight gained from her opportunities, and concentrated on applying these talents, in 1988 Audrey formed her own label - Raja Records - to promote their product, devise marketing strategies and sell to record shops, distributors both domestically in the UK and abroad.

In 1996 in London, UK, Audrey went ahead and launched her own enterprises Vocal Zones B.R.E. Productions, Inner City Groove Records and Hourglass Studios
thus creating a  safe shelter, inspiration haven and nurturing environment to a great many raw but talented individuals, up and coming producers, engineers and songwriters using her skills acquired, vocal and performing arts.  She would encourage youngsters to use their skills as a vehicle where she would coach, mentor and inspire in whatever way she could to allow them to make excellent inroads into their careers, to make them bloom, blossom and thrive under the protection of her wings.

Since 1994, also staged in excess of 60 talent showcases and events in the UK which she felt was necessary to allow the growth of confidence and hone and perfect their personal and performing arts skills directing and producing stage shows at the legendary The Old Vic, London,
The Broadway Theater, London UK, The Fairfields Hall, UK, The Royal Opera House in Manchester for England Captain, Rio Ferdinand
, and showcases at The Millennium Dome, in London, UK, to name a few.

If you ask Audrey, she will always tell you that this truly was God's Gift to her to be able to fulfill a divine purpose and that "she" herself is just the "humanity" required to do so.

Audrey arrived in Atlanta GA in 2009 and re-established Vocal Zones USA here in the USA and has staged over 25 events across Atlanta and Georgia, as well as the creation The Miss Teen Dream USA Pageant - which was featured twice on Lifetime TV, Fashion 4Wardz Photography By McGee, and, of course, THE ATLANTA CREATORS and represents the stellar artistry of her amazing and super talented husband, Brian McGee -  The Art Of McGee, which are all part of the B.R.E Productions International, Inc organization.

Audrey is also a professional photographer, writer and a mixed media artist who will be launching her collection in NY in late Spring.

DARA ROSE
Actor
Dara Rose Home

I have been an actress for a few years. I’m also an educator and I’m passionate about Identity Theft Prevention. I was in a LifeLock Commercial to speak about my Identity Theft experience. I’m a guest speaker to high school business and film classes on this topic.

I first got started in the business when I opened a storage unit in the Florida Keys and Netflix was filming an Oscar- Nominated series called Bloodline. The lady working there asked if I was interested in being an actress on the set even if I didn’t have any set experience. I was a swim coach and teacher at the time so I decided to give it a try and fell in love with the industry.

And Lastly, Why Are You Interested In Working With The Atlanta Creators?
I really appreciate the collaboration efforts to connect and uplift the film industry workers and other creators in different industries.

JEREMY JOHNSON
Singer/Songwriter/Actor
Applaud Your Talent, Inc

I initially got started in the entertainment business as early as 15, when I formed my first band. Since that time, I have either started other bands or been recruited to join other bands. In addition to my experiences working as a vocalist, I have gained experience working as an actor and songwriter for a few independent films. One of the greatest challenges throughout my career in film and entertainment has been finding the courage to stay the course despite the many setbacks and no's that I have encountered over the years. There have been times when I have felt like throwing in the towel, but somehow, I manage to dig deep within and continue to push forward.

Recently, I had the privilege to perform in the musical version of Little Shop of Horrors. Originally, I was cast to be in the ensemble. Due to unforeseen circumstances, within two weeks of the show's opening night, I was cast as an understudy for the character, Mr. Mushnick. It was quite a challenge to learn all of the speaking parts and the blocking for the character, but with determination and extreme dedication, I was able to do just that.

And Lastly, Why Are You Interested In Working With The Atlanta Creators?
I am interested in working with The Atlanta Creators in order to be a part of this amazing networking opportunity. I excitedly look forward to the chance to meet with other professionals that I may be able to collaborate with. Equally, it will be a great opportunity to share my expertise and learn from others' expertise.

I am currently a freelance art director. I have worked as a freelance artist for nearly three decades. I have worked on projects ranging from graphic design for major league sports entertainment to independent comic book / graphic novels. I can and have worked most positions and roles in any creative experience from project lead to staff artist.

I started drawing comics at a young age, then worked for a silk screen printing company as a staff artist. I continued to freelance and learn as I grew creatively. I started freelance art for commissions at 10 yrs old and continued working for my self part time ever since

Tell Us About A Project That  Really Pushed Your Boundaries?
I make doing this a habit. Because if forces me to grow, lead, network and budget. If I cannot get a portion done myself, I hire others to help.

And Lastly, Why Are You Interested In Working With The Atlanta Creators?
Because it is a great opportunity to grow and see others grow as creatives.

DWIGHT CLARK
VR Digital Modeling
Clarkwerkborne

Ive been a freelance artist for 20+ years in that time I have worn many hats from print work paper back designer and Illustrator, to motion graphics, and 3d sculptor. I haven't made into it films yet, but I am always open for new creative and lucrative challenges.

I used to work in that mythical place called a BOOKSTORE pre-internet fiction and non-fiction that was, one would walk into a store and browse thru physical documentation and inspiration came from the periodical section "also know as magazines." Just kidding they still exist, but that is where I met a young published author, named lets just call him Fredericks, to protect the innocent. He came into B.Dalton's bookstore to check on the levels of stock that we may or may not have had in our store. Turns out we had two copies left and unaware at the time that he was the author, I began to say less than complimentary things about the shroud around his prose, that passed for a cover illustration. He agreed and asked if I thought I could do better, I said yes and he said that he would contact me when he wrote the sequel...
And he did, thru snail mail and several phone calls no less he faxed me the script and I sent him thumbnails the same way. FAXING was not so great back then, but he could still make out enough detail that I got the JOB. I WAS BITTEN BY THE ARTBUG THAT DAY, and chasing those opportunities ever since.

And Lastly, Why Are You Interested In Working With The Atlanta Creators?
I believe that Atlanta has a great opportunity to become a hub of creative sustainability for the industry needs of all sorts of creative fields, and B.R.E. productions should be apart of that conversation. I would join them at that table and offer my creative extensions and services as well.

First animation was Tinker Bell for Disney. I have some great anecdotes for each experience, but too long to detail here.

I push myself. I always want to do better than before. Producing animation of Tinkerbell for Disney was a stretch since it was my first professional animation.

CARMEN J. MADISON

Producer/Writer
Pipeline Pictures

I started my career as a Hollywood Assistant, working for Studio backed Production companies and learning the industry from the bottom up. I've worked in Development and Production, as well as Entertainment Marketing for Turner Broadcasting. I currently teach in Kennesaw State University's Media and Entertainment Studies program and develop film and television projects for my Production Company Pipeline Pictures.

Like many, I started as an Intern, first in Atlanta after finishing Film School at Florida State and again as a Grad Student in Chapman University's Producer's Program. By the time I earned my MFA, I had interned on the Sony and Paramount lots and transitioned to an Assistant role with Nickelodeon Movies. My first official job in the industry was a dream, until I was laid off due to a company wide re-organization. Starting my early career in Hollywood was difficult to navigate, but networking allowed me to keep working and building relationships among my colleagues.

Tell Is If You Were Involved In A Project That Really Pushed Your Boundaries?
I feel like every single project pushes my boundaries. Getting someone to believe in your vision and support it is not an easy feat. I recently shot a pilot for a Docu-series and had to really sell the concept to the subjects I wanted to feature. Not everyone wanted to be apart of the vision, but I really appreciate those who did and decided to take a chance on my company. I realize that they are also moving beyond their comfort zone and boundaries as well.

And Lastly, Why Are You Interested In Working With The Atlanta Creators?
I'm looking forward to connecting with other Creatives in the Entertainment Industry and working together to strengthen opportunities for local filmmakers.

KEITH HAMPTON
Filmmaker
Latest Creation

I have been working in the industry for over 25 years. For the last 20 years, I have been CEO and Head Creative at Latest Creations, Inc., Film and Video Production Company, where I wrote, produced, directed, and edited features, shorts, and promo videos.

I continue to make movies independently, while paying my knowledge forward through my Hampton Film Academy programs and college courses I teach.

My first experience working on a film set happened after I saw a string of films released based on books by my favorite author, Stephen King. As a young writer, I felt inspired to learn how to make my own stories into movies, so that my audience could experience them visually and auditorily. So, I volunteered to work on a student film.

My greatest challenge was making my first feature film as a director after film school. My first attempt brought me the experience of being able to secure named actors without having raised the money I was looking for. I quickly learned to digress to my prior experience. The best way for me to brand myself as a filmmaker and have the freedom to stay one was to write for my accessible resources. I wrote another screenplay and began making movies that I could afford to make, without having to wait on greenlights from people who did not know me as a person and as an artist.

Because I also initially distributed the film myself, I had to spearhead marketing and exhibition brokering, which took my experience to a new level. Despite my experience with getting Rob Hardy's "Chocolate City" into theaters, "Earshot" was a different beast in a different day. I had the means and the vision, but I did not have the team and support we had back during our days at Florida A&M.

I was lucky enough to attract a distributor a year after I released it to its first theater, but then I made the mistake of relying on them to market and promote my film, when I was my film's best marketer and promoter. As with all other parts of the process, I had to pick up my own ball and push forward.

And Lastly, Why Are You Interested In Working With The Atlanta Creators?
I am a creator. My base is in Atlanta; and based on the information I've gathered about The Atlanta Creators, this is a movement that is in alignment with my objective to pay forward knowledge of how to build and brand oneself as a creator.

While serving he began learning production and created a popular video podcast-turned regional TV show.  He has been in the industry now for 14 years and is currently a motion graphics artist for Georgia Public Broadcasting and creator/producer for Georgia Box Office.

Frank has always wanted to do film and TV and, together with his wife, Sheena,  started a video podcast about anime which quickly became one of the top 5 on iTunes with about 20,000 downloads per month. Throughout this time, Frank  was being deployed with the Navy and used his downtime to learn software and picked up new techniques. CHET BREWSTER
Director/Producer
DavenStar 1
Entertainments, LLC

I have been in the film, television and live event production industry for over 30 years. I have worked with many celebrities ranging from comedians, to actors to musicians from all genres of music. I have travelled both domestically and internationally for many of my productions. I have even been blessed to work a television show at the White House when the Obamas were in the White House.

My first job was at CNN in Atlanta I started 7 days after graduating from Emerson College. After 4 years of working there, my love and passion was greater than working at a news network 5 days a week. Thus, the opportunities to freelance, to direct, to travel, to Survive, Connect, Create and Repeat has been both challenging and rewarding.

The one project that possibly pushed me the most was directing and producing the Kings of Comedy tour with Steve Harvey, D.L Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer and Bernie Mac. DavenStar was responsible for everything from trucking, crew, light, sound and video equipment. I recorded every show as archival which let Paramount Studios being interested in making the tour into a concert movie, The Original Kings of Comedy, which I worked along Spike Lee as he filmed our production of the concert at the Charlotte Coliseum.

And Lastly, Why Are You Interested In Working With The Atlanta Creators?
I am interested with working with organizations that assist in helping independent Atlanta film creators giving them the chance to be seen and heard. A lot of independents and local production people and companies do not always get the call from Netflix, Marvel and the like.

DAEJA HINTON

My time in the music industry started in 1994 in Orlando Fl at 102 Jamz as the front desk person The general manager at that time stated my personality did not belong in a box so he put me into promotions doing the street team and that's where i found my niche. I started to attend events then thats where the booking and PR came in.  I have great mentors that I still get advice from as if today, they are famous DJs and platinum artist.

My challenges were in general ....being a woman in the music industry is not easy.

The key to that is knowing to separate the two personal vs business if you do not know how to then this is definitely not the place for you to be nor to expand. The industry changes all the times but so do people so you must always educate yourself and stay up on the changes, new artist, new music etc .

The goal to being successful in the music industry as a woman is RESPECT.

The project /artist I currently working with has had me outside my box snd really putting my skills , Knowledge, and creativity to work and boundaries being pushed.

And Lastly, Why Are You Interested In Working With The Atlanta Creators?
Audrey and Brian from The Atlanta Creators ... The name alone speaks for itself .I am a creator and my brain is a sponge.

I am always educating myself more and more everyday.  Audrey and Brian at The Atlanta Creators would give me the platform I need to help and be come stronger in speaking engagements and seminars and conferences.

The Atlanta Creators will actually give me a chance to speak and tell my story, share my advice, share my knowledge. The gift I received,  the ability to help someone else with their career and put them in position to get where they want to be is my mission, my goal.

"A CONVERSATION WITH
MICHAEL E. WILLIAMS"

Founder, Icon and Creator
of the Legendary
"COMEDY ACT THEATRE"
Hosted by Andre LaMont

If you had the opportunity to meet the man who helped launch the careers of comedic giants like Martin Lawrence, the late Robin Harris, Chris Tucker, Robert Townsend,
Eddie Griffin, Chris Rock, Bernie Mac, Jamie Fox,
Damon Wayans,
D.L. Hughley, Sinbad, Bruce Bruce

just to name a few, what would you do?

Well Now’s your chance!!
The Atlanta Creators are so very proud to present
“A Conversation With Micheal E. Williams"
the illustrious Icon, Founder, Visionary and Creator of
"The Comedy Act Theatre”

Join us in an exclusive chat with Mr. Williams as he sits in a one-on-one conversation with our
Moderator, Director at DOF Inc., Mr. Andre Lamont!

We would also like to take this opportunity to express our
sincerest thanks and appreciation to the
AMAZING ANDRE LAMONT from DOF Inc.
for his herculean efforts, passion and love for his belief in
THE ATLANTA CREATORS and for making this dream come true!

Before there was Def Jam, Comedy Central or Comicview, there was
The Comedy Act Theatre (C.A.T) the bedrock and mecca of today's African American comedy genre.

The legendary maverick entrepreneur Michael E. Williams, "The Godfather of Comedy" opened the doors of the C.A.T in 1985, and immediately realized his childhood vision,  quickly developing a regular audience of 250 to 400 patrons per night.

After experiencing the gifting of the iconic Robin Harris, Williams hired him as the MC for the Los Angeles club; it proved to be a game-changer.  (Harris rose to national recognition through his
"BeBe's Kids" routines. Harris remained MC until his untimely death in 1990.)

In its 12 years of operation, the four Comedy Act Theatre locations introduced to some and presented to others a phenomenal list of world-class comedic talent.

As the concept skyrocket in success, the second club opened in Oakland, CA.  Then, Williams expanded his original vision.  He opened another Comedy Act Theater in Atlanta.  It was a success; taking the fledgling career of Jamie Foxx to “must see” status and introducing the South to up & comer, Chris Tucker.   Michael would finally open the last of three clubs in Chicago, IL.

As news of the clubs success spread, it emerged unparalleled, providing an opportunity for the audience to hear their voice expressed through the performers onstage. Among its regular audience members were: Spike Lee, Magic Johnson, Denzel Washington, Lawrence Fishburne, Russell Simmons, Mike Tyson, and Ticha Campbell-Martin.

Newcomers to comedy would cut their performance teeth and perfected their new materials at one or more of the clubs.  Established performers were able to energized their careers, as many evolved in this fertile environment including Sinbad, Mike Epps, Martin Lawrence,
D.L. Hughley, Robert Townsend, Joe Torry.  Also on the roster where Bernie Mac,  Red Foxx, Whoopi Goldberg, Jamie Foxx, Mark Curry, Ajai, Robert Townsend, Lamont Johnson, Damon Wayans and Louis Dix
to name just a few who have taken to the stage of the illustrious Comedy Act Theatre.

All these comedians owe their success to Michael who helped them make transitions from the comedy scene to the big screens. Nearly every nationally-recognized black comedian over age 40 has a performance connection with at least one of his three comedy clubs. His comedy clubs earned recognition as the launching pad for bigger careers.

Unfortunately, Williams was forced to close the last of his four clubs in 1997 after being diagnosed with stage IV non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a rare form of lymphatic cancer (1993) with a life-ending prognosis.

Upon overcoming cancer, Michael chose to provide care of this them critically ill father and shortly thereafter to his mother, honoring his parents who had faithfully stood by his side during his illness until their deaths in 2002 and 2006 respective.

And The Story Goes On..... The Comedy Act Planet, born from,
The Comedy Act Theatre now joins comedians across the globe through the influence and connection of one man... Michael E. Williams, rightly dubbed  “The God Father of Comedy”  who has expanded his vision to encompass the world.

Contribution of Michael Williams

  • Michael E. Williams started the first organized African American-owned comedy club chain in the US with venues in major markets such as Los Angeles, and Oakland, CA, Atlanta, GA, and Chicago, IL.
  • Michael E. Williams has spearheaded a black stand-up comedy industry that opened the doors to a multitude of entertainment professionals.
  • The Comedy Act Theatre facilitated the continuation of the next wave of comedic talent.
  • Television and movie producers, including HBO, Showtime, BET, Comedy Central, and Fox scouted the clubs talent and benefited from his endeavors.
  • Recognition of the accomplishments of Michael E. Williams is visible through the number of comedians showcased in his clubs, as evidenced by:
    • In excess of 300 comedy-related films featuring present-day African American comics produced between 1987-Present.
    • More than 33 comedy-related television and cable shows featuring present-day black comics produced between 1987- Present.
    • Mr. Williams's efforts opened industry doors, establishing diverse career opportunities within the industry and confirmed African American comedy was financially viable.
The Comedy Act Theatre was legendary in its exposure of show-business professionals, (including producers, writers, directors, casting agents and talent promoters), to a new pool of performers.

ZION AKA 7
with
LUKE G

Picture

Music Artist/Singer/Rapper/Producer

My name is Zion Aka 7, originally from West Philadelphia. I have spent nearly 20 years in the industry working in different capacities and different roles within fashion, production, songwriting, and more recently focusing on my own artistry through music and poetry. I am an artist who embraces my purpose as a mouth piece for Jesus and being a voice of this generation.

Tell Us About How You Got Started In The Business?
Music has always been an outlet for me to deal with my issues from a young age. As I started writing, my poetry transformed into music. As I grew older, my sister was a big influence in getting me started in the industry, because she was a choreographer. She expressed herself through movement as I did the same through words and music. My initial start in the industry was as a celebrity stylist which allotted me the opportunity to meet and work with some amazing people. Being an artist at heart, I have transitioned to music and have been focusing on growing and expanding my craft.

Tell Is If You Were Involved In A Project That Really Pushed Your Boundaries?
My latest project "Color Me Human" has been my love offering to the world and also a boundary pusher for my life. It took everything I had to put together that body of work that represented where I was as a Christian, what I have overcome, and what I have healed from. Overall sharing my testimony, giving God the glory and releasing my past hurts through my music has been a form of therapy.

And Lastly, Why Are You Interested In Working With The Atlanta Creators?
I am grateful to work with the Atlanta Creators because of the wealth of knowledge and experience that they offer everyone who is a part of it. The platform is an amazing resource to connect with people, learn from the curated workshops, and grow in this industry.

Singer/Songwriter/
Actor

Hey Sugas! My name is Shacario Bradley and I am comedienne Big Que.

I was born the oldest of three in San,Diego CA and raised here in Atlanta, Ga, by my grandmother which is where "Sister Beverly" came from. Comedy has always been my passion.

I have been blessed to share the stage with greats from Melba Moore to Angie Stone doing what I love from stage plays to stand-up.

I met Audrey and Brian at Cafe 290 competing in a showcase called, "Who's Got the Vibe",  where they are judges and I won my competing week. I am so blessed and humble to be able to perform at the Atlanta Creators Conference, especially at a time when comedy was almost not an option for me, but what God has for me, it IS for me!
